NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev.The U.S. Air Force kicks off its largest three-week premier air-to-air combat training exercise, Red Flag 18-1, which will continue until Feb. 16, 2018.

Base officials want to remind Southern Nevada residents will notice increased military aircraft activity due to aircraft departing from Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, twice-a-day to participate in training exercises on the Nevada Test and Training Range.

“We’re trying a few new and different things with Red Flag 18-1,” said Col Michael Mathes, 414th Combat Training Squadron commander. “It’s the largest Red Flag ever with the largest number of participants, highlighting the balance of training efficiency with mission effectiveness.”

While Red Flag occurs in multiple iterations annually, each one has a unique training purpose – 18-1 is no exception.

“Red Flag 18-1 primarily is a strike package focused training venue that we integrate at a command and control level in support of joint task force operations,” said Mathes. “It’s a lot of words to say that we integrate every capability we can into strike operations that are flown out of Nellis Air Force Base.”

The training offered during Red Flag has prepared armed forces for future engagements.

“Red Flag remains a great mix of heritage and future potential,” said Mathes. “We are very proud of our heritage with the way that red flag had improved survivability and readiness over the years. We look forward as we continue to grow readiness through integrated training as well as improving training efficiency.”

The exercise typically involves a variety of attack, fighter and bomber aircraft as well as participants from the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Royal Australian Air Force and Royal Air Force.

MAJOR ROLE FOR RAF AT WORLD’S PREMIER AIR COMBAT EXERCISE

The world’s premier air combat exercise is underway in Nevada, with the Royal Air Force (RAF) playing a major role alongside American and Australian counterparts.

Set at Nellis Air Force Base, Red Flag pits ‘Blue’ coalition forces against hostile ‘Red Force’ aggressors, mirroring real-life threats in air-to-air, air-to-ground, space and cyber warfare.

Typhoons, from 6 Squadron, RAF Lossiemouth, are operating in a swing-role capacity, fighting their way into hostile airspace, launching precision strikes on ground targets and fighting their way out again.

Trump’s UK visit has been confirmed for 26-27th Feb 2018 to open the new US embassy in Battersea, London. It is essential that his visit is met with mass protests against all he stands for – racism, bigotry, sexism, warmongering. Above all, we want to ensure one message comes through clearly: Trump‘s actions, both domestic and international, bring our planet closer to catastrophic climate change, an existential threat. Many organisations are involved in organising these protests – we’ll update with date, time and more details as soon as we can. In the meanwhile please share widely.

Serial Cat Killer (Rabbits & Foxes too) is Terrorizing London Area Communities

UPDATE 2.8.18
Courtesy SNARL, South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty, Facebook.
Folks in the London area have been looking for a serial animal killer for 2 years now.  (Animals are often decapitated and/or mutilated.) The suspect is thought to have killed as many as 400 animals, in particular cats.
Police have now issued a possible description of the suspect and there is a substantial reward. Pet owners are so concerned that they often have to keep their small animals inside for protection.
The case is also known as Croydon Cat Killer, M25 Cat Killer and Operation Takahe. Community members are actively involved in information sharing and posting flyers.

CASE UPDATE:

December 13

From Snarl:

I confirm that Tony Jenkins attended at Hayling Island today and examined Millie’s body. As a result of that examination, we are tentatively ruling her death into the investigation.

Because this incident is outside of London, we will need our pathologist to confirm what we suspect and this evening, Tony brought Millie back to London for that examination to take place, alongside a number of other victims.

What will happen now is that we will get leaflets out on the island, in the area around Millie’s home and extending as far as local volunteers can reach. Julie Betterton-Trew will be our co-ordinator for the area and will have a map to work off. If we need to extend the map, we can and we will.

In terms of the agreed Met Police protocol, what should happen is that Hampshire Police should now initiate a door to door and CCTV check. We will be asking DS Andrew Collin in Croydon to liaise with colleagues at Hampshire to ensure this happens. There is currently no vehicle identified that police can use to check against in terms of CCTV and the island is accessible by vehicle and by foot. We would ask that people bear this in mind when considering police efforts. Plenty of human murders remain unsolved for years because of a lack of CCTV, not a lack of effort.

We do not believe the killer is still on the island but he is known to go back to areas and we have had a number of incidents in Havant and Portsmouth. We cannot currently predict where he will go next so our advice is to keep your cats indoors at night and let them out during the day under supervision. If you have rabbits or guinea pigs or other pets in outdoor runs, please bring them indoors unless these runs are directly covered by CCTV and lighting, which may not stop the killer but may give him pause.
