Security Alert – U. S. Embassy Kabul, Afghanistan (January 20, 2018)

Location: Kabul, Afghanistan

Event: At 9:00 pm, a series of explosions occurred at the Intercontinental Hotel in the PD-4 neighborhood of Kabul.  The attack is reported to be ongoing at this time.  Afghan authorities have announced they are reacting to the incident and a heightened police presence throughout the city is expected.  Please contact the U.S. Embassy at the numbers below if you are aware of any U.S. citizens at the hotel.

  • Monitor local media for updates
