Sad to see Trump and Bannon at each others’ throats today. I expect the interviews Michael Wolff did happened a long time ago and are tumbling out in to the press unexpectedly. (It’s worth noting that Wolff has a very long history of being called out by his sources for fabricating quotes, including this book already.) I don’t suppose Steve or DJT saw this coming or planned it. Steve has a bit of a temper (he has said bad things about me in the heat of the moment, too — about everyone! — you learn not to take it too seriously unless it’s a pattern) and he might just have been on a tear that day. The statement from the President has left Steve will little choice though. Expect to see Breitbart bigging up Pence in the months to come. As I say, very sad. Two men I admire, one of whom I adore. I don’t feel the need to choose.

Steve Bannon vs. Donald Trump: Best of Grudge Match on Twitter

Today, publisher Henry Holt acknowledged receipt of a cease and desist letter from Trump’s lawyers demanding that “Fire and Fury” not be published as planned on January 9, 2018. The publisher said the book will proceed, even pushing the date up to January 5, 2018.

The book’s promo reads as follows:With extraordinary access to the Trump White House, Michael Wolff tells the inside story of the most controversial presidency of our timeThe first nine months of Donald Trump’s term were stormy, outrageous—and absolutely mesmerizing. Now, thanks to his deep access to the West Wing, bestselling author Michael Wolff tells the riveting story of how Trump launched a tenure as volatile and fiery as the man himself.

In this explosive book, Wolff provides a wealth of new details about the chaos in the Oval Office. Among the revelations:
— What President Trump’s staff really thinks of him
— What inspired Trump to claim he was wire-tapped by President Obama
— Why FBI director James Comey was really fired
— Why chief strategist Steve Bannon and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner couldn’t be in the same room
— Who is really directing the Trump administration’s strategy in the wake of Bannon’s firing
— What the secret to communicating with Trump is
— What the Trump administration has in common with the movie The Producers

Never before has a presidency so divided the American people. Brilliantly reported and astoundingly fresh, Michael Wolff’s Fire and Fury shows us how and why Donald Trump has become the king of discord and disunion.

Readout of President Donald J. Trump’s Call with President Moon Jae-In of the Republic of Korea

Issued on: January 4, 2018

President Donald J. Trump spoke today with President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea to discuss recent developments on the Korean Peninsula.  The two leaders agreed to continue the campaign of maximum pressure against North Korea and to not repeat mistakes of the past.  The United States and the Republic of Korea are committed to a safe and successful 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.  President Trump told President Moon that the United States will send a high-level delegation to the Olympics.  The two leaders agreed to de-conflict the Olympics and our military exercises so that United States and Republic of Korea forces can focus on ensuring the security of the Games.

From South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency:

SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Yonhap) — South Korean President Moon Jae-in and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed Thursday to delay their countries’ regular joint military exercises during the Winter Olympic Games to be held here next month.

The agreement came in a telephone conversation between the two leaders, according to the South Korean presidential office Cheong Wa Dae.

The tentative agreement came at a request from the South Korean leader.

“I believe it would greatly help ensure the success of the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games if you could express an intention to delay joint South Korea-U.S. military exercises during the Olympics in case the North does not make any more provocations,” Moon was quoted as telling Trump.

The U.S. president agreed, saying Moon may tell North Korea that there will be no military exercises during the Olympics, according to Cheong Wa Dae.

In a press release, the White House confirmed the leaders agreed to “de-conflict the Olympics and our military exercises so that United States and Republic of Korea forces can focus on ensuring the security of the Games.”

The call between Moon and Trump came one day after the divided Koreas reopened their dialogue channel at the joint security area of Panmunjeom in a prelude to resuming government-level talks for the first time since December 2015.

In a tweet, Donald Trump took credit for renewed dialogue between North Korea and South Korea:

Trump’s UK visit has been confirmed for 26-27th Feb 2018 to open the new US embassy in Battersea, London. It is essential that his visit is met with mass protests against all he stands for – racism, bigotry, sexism, warmongering. Above all, we want to ensure one message comes through clearly: Trump‘s actions, both domestic and international, bring our planet closer to catastrophic climate change, an existential threat. Many organisations are involved in organising these protests – we’ll update with date, time and more details as soon as we can. In the meanwhile please share widely.

Dramatic Video from Russian Security Forces Shows IS Terrorist Bust in St. Petersburg

The detained suspects planned a series of terrorist attacks in St. Petersburg on December 16, 2017. Today President Putin thanked President Trump and the CIA for helping to foil the plot.

MOSCOW, December 15. /TASS/. A group of seven people affiliated with the Islamic State terror organization (outlawed in Russia) was detained this week in Saint Petersburg, where they planned to carry out a series of terrorist attacks.

An FSB video carried by RBC shows one of the suspects confessing to preparing the terrorist attack in St. Petersburg.

“I was supposed to make the explosives and… pack them into bottles with projectiles attached,” he said.

The video also shows FSB operatives detaining a suspect at a shipping container that was supposedly used as an explosives lab and raiding an apartment, where explosives, assault weapons, ammunition and Islamist literature was found.

“The group was administered by ringleaders of the international terrorist organization from abroad by means of the instant messaging service Telegram,” the press service stated.

“Seven members of the group were detained in the course of a special operation in Saint Petersburg on December 13 and 14,” the FSB press service said. “A significant amount of explosive devices, elements for improvised explosive devices, automatic guns, ammunition and extremist literature have been confiscated from them.”

“A laboratory for manufacturing explosive devices has been eliminated as well,” the FSB added.

One of the detained suspects has admitted his guilt of preparing to carry out terrorist attacks in Russia’s second largest city of Saint Petersburg, according to a video footage circulated by the FSB.

“I was plotting a terrorist attack in Saint Petersburg. I had to manufacture explosives, pack them in bottles… and to attach shrapnel elements,” the detained suspect said.

One of the targets was the beautiful Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg:

Jayda Fransen, Britain First Leader Retweeted by Trump, Faces Charges in Belfast

Evidence is NOT the test when reporting a hate incident. The perception of the victim or any other person is the defining factor in determining whether an incident is a hate incident, or in recognising the hostility element of a hate crime.–Police Service of Northern Ireland

From Belfast Telegraph Digital, December 14 2017

During Fransen’s appearance in the dock it was confirmed that she is to contest the charges against her.

The 31-year-old faces two counts of behaviour intending or likely to stir up hatred or fear by using words which were “threatening, abusive or insulting”.

The allegations relate to a speech made at a ‘Northern Ireland Against Terrorism’ rally at City Hall on August 6.

Police Service of Northern Island laws differ vastly from free speech laws in the United States (See US Supreme Court opinions and decisions on Hate Speech below):

WHAT IS HATE CRIME?

A hate and signal crime or incident will be recorded where it is perceived that the perpetrator’s hostility or prejudice against any person or property is on the grounds of the victim’s ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, political opinion or disability.

The impact of hate and signal crime can be long lasting and far reaching, going beyond the victim’s own experience and increasing fear in the wider community.

Our key priority is to ensure that the needs of all victims are a priority throughout the investigation process.

Hate crimes can take many forms, including:

  • Verbal abuse/intimidation and harassment
  • Physical assault which can include; punching, slapping, hair pulling, biting, burning hitting, choking or kicking
  • Criminal damage to property

Evidence is NOT the test when reporting a hate incident. The perception of the victim or any other person is the defining factor in determining whether an incident is a hate incident, or in recognising the hostility element of a hate crime.

It would not be appropriate to record a crime or incident as a hate crime or hate incident if it was based on the perception of a person or group who had no knowledge of the victim, crime or the area, and who may be responding to media or internet stories or who are reporting for a political or similar motive.

Free Speech INCLUDES Hate Speech and We Are Free to Hate It
